...chewing you to pieces.
For those of you reading this in another generation, Michael Vick was the star quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons. Today he pled guilty to crimes concerning organized dog fighting. He may well do some time in jail.
He's sure to be mentioned in a future
Deranged Dog People blog post.

Vick's preferred sport was disgusting, but there is never a right time or place for a federal law of this sort, or any sort. Where in the Constitution does it say that the federal government shall protect dogs from abusive situations?
More importantly, how is natural justice being served by the existence of a federal government?
The Vick situation has repulsed me because of some of the responses I have seen from various commentators and other people who felt moved to speak after hearing about it. One person close to me implied that people like Michael Vick should be shot for their crimes. This is the same person who still has no problem with the Iraq War.
There's a seriously moral failing at play in this country, and the Michael Vick saga put it all into stark relief for me.
