I Accidentally Watched This

It depressed me but did the job.

It reminded me why I don't follow all that crap and should keep me away for some time.

I'm still procrastinating on getting the gun my wife wants me to get. (6 month waitlist for a permit in my county!)

Not for nuthin', but you got to try to shoot a *perp* in the leg, first.

Ha!

I have been itching to get myself a gun....and I'm not a gun-enthusiast by any stretch.

But THIS is funny!

Marginalizing Vote-Wasters

Did you vote for Romney or Obama today?

Well you WASTED your vote!

See what I did there?

I'm doing this to everyone in person too. I'm preempting their sophistry. I'm throwing it right back at them.

I voted for Gary Johnson today - I think - or whoever it was on the libertarian ballot. Someone I haven't a clue about.

The rest of y'all voted for someone who either admits to wanting to do very bad things or someone who promises to do good things....but most certainly won't get anything meaningful done.

Either way, if you voted for an organized political party again, you WASTED YOUR VOTE. I mean your vote didn't count one iota towards either changing the course of this sinking ship or towards changing the intellectual/moral bankruptcy of your political party.

When Kerry couldn't beat Bush in '04 it (I believe) marked the first time in many, many moons that an incumbent president wasn't ousted during a lethargic economy.

But it looks like Obama (73% odds of winning on those gambling sites at the moment) has a good chance to keep that winning streak going for recession-Presidents. Heck, FDR kept getting reelected during the Great Depression too...

Generally speaking, there are myriad reasons to vote nonetheless.

Though I can't stand these fools that delude themselves about how important their measly vote is. I mean this country is run by 'old coots', lawyers, and thugs for the benefit of 'old coots', lawyers, and thugs and it will be until some once-in-a-generation, sharp-as-hell, tough-as-nails President sneaks in there and starts throwing haymakers at them.

I heard recently something along the lines that *voting was the last/only refuge of the truly powerless*.

Indeed.

And I was reminded of that quote the other day...

While walking up 6th Ave in NYC I came across two obscenely disheveled, obese hippies prattling on and on about the election. I slowed my pace for purposes of self-amusement/eavesdropping and heard the 'old bag' say, "....my biggest fear is that he'll be SELLING Supreme Court judgeships..."

This halted the 'old coot' in his tracks, he grabbed her arm and proceeded to wax hysterical agreement!

I mean they might not have 10 years left between them - and I doubt very much they have kids and grandkids. Trust me - I'm an expert at this type of profiling.

Half the country is going to be crestfallen tomorrow...

As Bill Belichick Would Say...

The status is *quo*!

Now as you all know I don't pay hardly any attention to the news, er NOISE.

But every time I hear an excerpt from Obama, and I mean almost every single time(!), he's blaming *evil rich people* for everything. Or at least that's what he his handlers think most Americans want to hear.

For the record, I still think he'll get re-elected.  After all, I haven't seen an encouraging election result, well, since I've been watching elections.  (Although Romney hasn't the spine to cut anything, either.)

Thanks to PrivateCaller for this one!

The Rich Have Never Become Richer!

Just imagine the Big Media, eco-pagan socialist outcry if it wasn't *their guy* who was President!

It might not even be possible to imagine how loud and nasty the vitriol would be if it were a non-Democrat presiding over a massive (albeit manipulated), downtick-less stock market rally....while the plebes suffered double digit unemployment rates and gasoline was $4 a gallon.

Sometime between now and January I predict it will be the end, if not the very end.

Why?

Well another Obama term will be tough for the economy - what's left of it anyway - to overcome.

And because Romney won't/can't really take the drastic steps that need to be taken to deal with the trillions of debt.

Sell everything except ammo and canned goods!

At Least SOMEONE Is Celebrating Romneycare

Can't make this stuff up....all you can do is giggle:

Obama backers put this video out. Obviously the strategy is to rip Mitt Romney via self-comparison!

For more, see Reason.

One snippet:

No other state spends as much of its budget on health care as Massachusetts...

In 2009, for example, the state spent $61 billion on care. In 2012, more than 54 percent of the state government’s budget will be devoted to health care, the highest in the nation. The majority of that spending is on the expanded insurance coverage called for by RomneyCare. Other states have big Medicaid bills, but Massachusetts also pays for the same sort of middle-class insurance subsidies that ObamaCare is slated to begin offering nationally in 2014. The price of coverage paid by individuals is going up too. As Song and Landon note, “For individuals, monthly premiums for a minimal (“bronze”) plan purchased through the Commonwealth Choice connector (the state insurance exchange) increased from about $175 in 2007 to $275 in 2012 (a 57% increase), despite slowed growth in overall health care spending since the start of the recession in 2008.”

USA - Run By 'Old Coots' With Childish Intellects

So I point out to my son that the local *comic book store* just closed shop:

CaptiousDad - Look John, the comic book store is out of business now....It's a bad economy right now, do you know what that means?

Son - Nah.

CaptiousDad - It means that a lot of people don't have jobs....that a lot of people don't have any money these days.

Son - Well....then they should just print more money!

HAH!!!

There you have it - the current national economic policy can be intuited by a 7.32 year old!

While my son is certainly very precocious....he hasn't read a lick of economics and so doesn't understand it a little bit - a la Bernanke, Obama, Bush, et al.

Pump Pain

Hah! I've been telling y'all this was coming, for years.

Recall 16 months ago we bought a little car (32 mpg) expressly because of this prediction of mine.

Obama's people are printing money to monetize the stock and bond markets (so they can get re-elected and so they can bailout the 'old people' that run this country).

But an irresponsible, rampant policy like this inevitably juices the commodity markets too.

The funny thing is....high gas prices from now to November will be taken out on incumbent politicians. Obama - er, I mean his *handlers* - have to be aware of this.

So I believe at some point soon they will take the air (monetization) out of the stock and bond markets in order to knock down oil a peg before November. Sure they will *release from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve* and make a big announcement out of it....but that won't really lower the price of oil that much.

Oh wait, some of you naive folk that the Strategic Reserve was for real emergencies like supply chain disruptions and wars???

Hah! No it's always been for incumbent pols!

The one problem with my little Volvo is that I'm too scared to drive my kids around in it. There are just too many crazy drivers here in NY. I feel like we'd be crushed instantly in the event of an accident (versus my Chevy Tahoe).

While politicians might not survive higher gas prices....the public will figure it out. Soon everyone will be driving less, ordering from Amazon Prime, and driving a moped:

What's that old moped joke?

Something like - They're like fat girls....fun to ride but you don't want your friends catching you riding one.

It Doesn't Work...

So they just need a higher dose!

In fact it ought to be MANDATED - according to this clown/fascist.

Is this another assault on educational freedom or just more empty, deflective rhetoric?

UPDATE - This almost too funny.

Ironically, Obama's State of the Union address registered at only an 8th grade reading level:

President Obama's 2012 State of the Union address again rated at an 8th grade comprehension level on the Flesch-Kincaid readability test — the third lowest score of any State of the Union address since 1934.

The University of Minnesota's Smart Politics conducted an analysis on the last 70 State of the Union addresses and found that President Obama's three addresses have the lowest grade average of any modern president. "Obama's average grade-level score of 8.4 is more than two grades lower than the 10.7 grade average for the other 67 addresses written by his 12 predecessors," they conclude.

"The Flesch-Kincaid test is designed to assess the readability level of written text, with a formula that translates the score to a U.S. grade level. Longer sentences and sentences utilizing words with more syllables produce higher scores. Shorter sentences and sentences incorporating more monosyllabic words yield lower scores," the University of Minnesota's Eric Ostermeier explains.

Wealth Gap OR Reality Gap?

It was a conspiracy to get them arrested too. Seriously!

From Forbes:

Justin Brown, who was quick to point-out that Occupy Wall Street has no spokesman, described the standoff and mass arrests yesterday: "There was more or less an overt or calculated effort to block traffic as the group was entering the walkway over the Brooklyn Bridge. A legal volunteer with the National Lawyers Guide saw an undercover officer in that area leave a squad-car, join the protests, and go with the group over, probably in the process verbally encouraging protesters to enter the roadway. After a significant number had entered, [NYPD] blocked it from the back, blocked it from the front, then brought in the paddy-wagons and arrested, I think the number is over 700 so far.

When asked if he thought undercover NYPD were purposely infiltrating and agitating protesters, Brown answered emphatically, "No question, no question. I don’t know if they’re hunting for terrorists or encouraging any particularly violent behavior but I think, on a small scale, if you can encourage someone to go onto the streets where you’re not supposed to, then that gives you the opportunity to come in with the handcuffs."

As regular readers well know, I don't usually follow the din of contemporary news. In fact I barely skim these headlines even though these whack-jobs are camped out on the front door of my wife's office in Lower Manhattan.

I faintly heard that they were protesting *global warming*, *corporate greed*, and *inequality*. I also heard that it's a status quo protest FOR the re-election of the current President - which is not a little bit funny!

Well nominally at least they are mad at Wall Street. But of course their anger is non-sensical.

Wall Street is actually a creation of the socialists of yesteryear. Seriously.

If it weren't for the wholly un-Constitutional income tax in the first place (redistribution)....there wouldn't be the 401k exemption which all but forces average folk to blindly dump money into the stock market each month. It's precisely that *dumb money* that has turned Wall Street (i.e. the 'skim biz') into the frothy gold mine that it is.

With this government-mandated funnel....average people wouldn't be Moronically buying mutual funds, preyed upon by interested financial advisers, fretting over every tick in the indices and Wall Street would essentially be nothing more than an off-the-radar, private casino for rich people.

Believe me, I understand the anger. There's a whole lot of scheming and thievin' going on at Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, AIG, and many other politically connected financial entities.

But it's friggin Obama who's forking over billions of taxpayer money to bailout large banks these past 3 years. He's the one monetizing/inflating the stock, bond, and commodity markets and in the process spectacularly enriching Wall Street.

And recall it was Obama who was elected by the wealthy and by Wall Street too!

Rightfully these trust funders should be BLAMING THEMSELVES (and their hippy ancestors).

On protesting *inequality*....I would like to highlight a slammin' quote from my boy Will Durant:

But I will not say that revolution is never justified. But we have learned, through the experience accumulated and transmitted by our undying hierarchy, that after every overturn there will soon again be masters and men, rich and relatively poor. We are born unequal, and every new invention, every added complexity of life or thought, increases the gap between the simple and the clever, the weak and the strong. Those hopeful revolutionists talked of liberty, and equality, and fraternity. But these idols never get along together. If you establish equality you let natural inequalities multiply into artificial inequalities; and to check these you have to restrain liberty; so your utopias of freedom sometimes become straitjackets of despotism, and in the turmoil fraternity becomes only a phrase.
I did let the *global warming* bit slide because it's been well covered in the past.

In summary, these LOSERS are against the people, policies, and institutions THEY have voted for; they are against Father Nature, human nature, economic laws...

I myself would not be surprised if tomorrow night they held a candlelight vigil protesting the ever-heartless and chauvinistic *force of gravity*!

THIS Is Funny

He apparently said it *90 times* this past week in speeches, "PASS THIS BILL".

I can honestly say I have no idea what he's talking about - no idea what the *bill* is as I don't follow the din of contemporary politics.

But I'm quite sure that more rules, regs, and money printing in Washington isn't going to help the economy.

I do thank him for the damn good, teleprompter-skipping, laugh though!

A Surreal THEN and NOW

But we'll do them in reverse order - see the NOW above.

Except here was Obama from back in 2006 while serving in Congress:

Five years ago, then-Sen. Obama (D-Ill.) voted against raising the debt ceiling and even spoke about it on the Senate floor before the Republican-controlled Senate voted 52-48 to increase it.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure," Obama said on March 16, 2006. "Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America's debt limit."

Hah!

You know at least Barney Frank dissembles his rank hypocrisy...

Lest any of y'all forget - raising the debt ceiling is nothing more than a euphemism for *printing more money*.

And it should be noted that many of the (majority) Republicans who voted to raise it back then, if they've also changed their tune principles....they too would fall into the self-serving hypocrite category.

Of course these politicians are, across-the-board, economically illiterate.

But they all seemingly agree that *printing money* is good for nearsighted incumbents.

Now I don't necessarily agree with that hypothesis.

Make no mistake, both parties are trying to figure out how to manipulate the stock, bond, and commodity markets (dumping from the Strategic Preserve this month?) in furtherance of their interests in next November's election.

I personally think that it would be a tactical mistake to try to prop up everything for the next 1.5 years. If I were Obama I'd want a crash now or early this fall so that the money pump would have time to generate a faux recovery leading into the election.

The Status is *Quo*

Click graphic to enlarge.

Of course in fairness, most of the *change* comes from pre-existing problems, policies, and institutions that B. Hussein Obama inherited.

But still, they will continue to destroy this country unless and until a POTUS stands up to that abominable Congress.

And, not for nuthin' but imagine the Big Media backlash a President NOT FROM THIS PARTY would be suffering in this economic environment..

Title credit - Bill Belichick!

Obamacare Spoof

I thought I was watching a Viagra commercial there.

But the worst is these 'old coots' on Medicare ripping Obamacare while the two are essentially one and the same!

The Toll Of Leadership?

Check out these *before* and *after* pics of the past several Presidents:

Alright that last one is pure extrapolation, but a good laugh nonetheless.  What color TV show is that from anyway?

Thanks to PrivateCaller for this one.
