The visual insinuation I infer is that consumers of organic, free-range fried poultry products are categorically responsible for *violence*.

And that's wrong, just plain wrong!

Ignoring Didn't Work, Now They're Trying Demonization

I don't follow the *political noise* much - that's why I have more chi than y'all! - but I have heard recently about some goings on.

It was only a year ago that I wrote - Pathological Partisanship - which highlighted the Boston Globe completely ignoring upstart *Tea Party* activists.

But apparently now that these activists have gained steam....tactics have changed.

Now it's all but an official strategy to stigmatize them, well, just as the sign says. E.g. Why is that?

Consider what Mary Frances Berry, former chairwoman, U.S. Commission on Civil Rights said:

Tainting the tea party movement with the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats. There is no evidence that tea party adherents are any more racist than other Republicans and, indeed, many other Americans. But getting them to spend their time purging their ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November. Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness.

So who is this woman anyway? Check out Google for a visual, Wikipedia for a mental:

Personally, I think the worst thing any politically-minded group can do is organize and label themselves. In this country we need to ELIMINATE the party system, not just form another mercenary, rational, self-preserving faction.

I'm curious as to what Rush Limbaugh is saying now about the ascendant Tea Party.  Recall from my previous post - In Favor Of Threesomes - that he was dead-set against anyone trying to work outside of the party that has been exploiting him and his listeners for 20+ years.

Actually I don't really care at all what he thinks on the matter.  Writing this post wasted waaaaay too much of my time, energy, and chi on contemporary politics!

I sincerely doubt that study counted the $72 billion that taxpayers and future generations sent over to Fannie Mae in 2009! (Then there's Freddie Mac, FHA, food stamps, unemployment benefits, etc.)

Redlining = Building Modern Plantations

Redlining refers to, well, taking a map, and color-coding it to denote areas of *chronic loan delinquency*.

That's an old map of Philadelphia above; an image that's well-known and oft-invoked among the institutionalized race-hustling community.

The practice of red-lining actually has its historical roots in the Federal Government!

Private organizations created maps designed to meet the requirements of the Federal Housing Administration's underwriting manual. The lenders had to consider FHA standards if they wanted to receive FHA insurance for their loans. FHA appraisal manuals instructed banks to steer clear of areas with "inharmonious racial groups"...

And here's where the Big Government apologists start spinning:

Urban planning historians theorize that the maps were used by private and public entities for years afterwards to deny loans to people in black communities.[8] However, recent research has indicated that the HOLC [read "the Feds"] did not redline in its own lending activities, and that the racist language reflected the bias of the private sector and experts hired to conduct the appraisals.

Hah! All racist redlining was a consequence of the PRIVATE SECTOR (even though the Fed codified it)!

Obviously, that *edit* came from unblinking statists; religious Morons who think Big Government infallible.

Redlining has helped preserve segregated living patterns for blacks and whites in the United States, because discrimination motivated by prejudice is often contingent on the racial composition of neighborhoods where the loan is sought and the race of the applicant.

That gibberish sounds like something out of a Harvard freshman *sensitivity seminar*, or something.

Many believe policies of credit card companies such as American Express that reduce credit lines of individuals that make purchases at retailers frequented by so-called "high-risk" customers to be akin to redlining.

Deny credit based on research of where and what one shops for?

That was probably VERY CLEVER at its inception - though it sounds like Amex was finally busted, er shaken down by class action attorneys.

Policies related to redlining and urban decay can also act as a form of environmental racism, which in turn have an impact on public health. Urban minority communities may face environmental racism in the form of parks that are smaller, less accessible and of poorer quality than those in more affluent or white areas in some cities. This may have an indirect impact on health, since young people have fewer places to play and adults have fewer opportunities for exercise.

The term "liquorlining" is sometimes used to describe the practice of encouraging very high density of liquor stores and other alcohol outlets in low income and/or minority communities relative to surrounding areas, implicitly by design. This is believed by some to cause a neighborhood to go downhill in terms of crime and quality of life. However, unlike redlining, this is usually not illegal.

I definitely got side-tracked writing this post. I just wanted to say one small thing about so-called red-lining but was distracted by the inanity of that Wikipedia link.

I was thinking about these hoods where lenders are forced to burn money and how Big Government's failures are routinely used as arguments for yet more Big Government.

I submit that the very existence of *public housing* just about ensures that the surrounding *red* areas won't ever gentrify. The projects essentially institutionalize neighborhoods as slums - and therefore anyone who doesn't sell their product there becomes a de facto target for the *shakedown industry*.

How Does One Even Comment On This Lunacy?

Perceptions of racism -- from being treated with suspicion in a store to unfairness in employment or housing -- can heighten stress levels and affect health, research has shown. A new study from Boston University links these smoldering signs of racism to weight gain in black women, suggesting a possible explanation for the their higher obesity rates compared to white women.

Yvette Cozier, an epidemiologist at the Slone Epidemiology Center at BU, led a survey of more than 43,000 women enrolled in the long-running Black Women's Health Study. Writing in the June issue of Annals of Epidemiology, she and her co-authors describe participants' reports on their weight, body mass index, and perceptions of racism.

At the beginning of the eight-year study, the women were asked if they sometimes felt they were treated poorly in a restaurant or store, whether they thought people considered them dishonest or less intelligent, and if they had felt unfairness on the job, in housing, or from police. The women, 21 to 69 years old at the study's outset, were placed in four groups based on how frequently they said they experienced these signs of racism. Their weight was recorded every two years from 1997 through 2005. Their waist circumference was measured at the beginning and end.

At the end of the trial, all the women had gained weight. But the women who said they felt higher levels of racism gained more weight and had bigger waist-size increases compared to the women who felt the least racism. That held true after accounting for factors such as education, geographic region, and beginning body mass index.

"Racism is real and it has real effects," Cozier said in an interview. "It can result in real changes in the body."

This is sooooo Boston 2009!....everything from the 43,000 person *study* - no doubt funded by taxpayers, to the quack science, to the eager dissemination by the apparatchik Boston Globe.

It should give pause to anyone about to spend 200k on Boston University tuition anyway.

More NBA Racism

A recent study suggests that black referees in the National Basketball Association are in fact racist.

It turns out that they call fewer fouls on black players than other referees do.

Some academics at UPenn, actually used the same data to conclude that white referees are the racists because they call more fouls on black players. (link)

An academic study of NBA officiating found that white referees called fouls at a greater rate against black players than against white players, The New York Times reported on its Web site Tuesday night.

Clearly, since both conclusions are possible from the research, the "study" is complete garbage.

The Morons at the NBA decided to criticize the data mining methodology, saying that the nerds couldn't even count which particular ref called each foul - all they had to go on were the names (and races) of the officiating crew and the individual game tallies.

But this is a ridiculous criticism. Just assume the quantitative results of the study are true, and retort with my conclusion of black refs being lenient on black players, arguably a de facto act of racism against non-black players.

This study, and I use that term loosely, like most propaganda, took the bricolage route. They also slung against the wall the overall statistic that black players get called for more fouls than whites. This datum is supposed to somehow buttress their racism accusation against white referees?

Let's see - white guys stand around outside and shoot three-pointers while black guys are taller and mix it up underneath the basket. Who the heck who you expect to commit more fouls?

If anyone can't see the transparent race-baiting agenda of this study, then they are an absolute, complete Moron.

Black professional basketball players score a lot more points than white players.

Doesn't that imply the scorekeepers are biased against white guys that can't jump?

There will never be an adult national dialogue on race in this country so long as taxpayer monies are funding bullsh*t studies and the Associated Press is propagating them.
