Marginalizing Drudge?

It seems to me his little website has become over-sensationalized....just like the Big Media organs he was (methinks) to counter-balance.

I mean he spends far too much time promoting "storms" and the latest Division III college football player to come out of the closet...

Drudge seems to only care about clicks and eyeballs now.

But maybe his DrudgeReport was always this bad and I didn't notice - for some reason or other.

Regardless, I find myself giving him less clicks on account of shallow content.

I Can Blame Everything On Schools...

Hah! A "bully".

I don't know who Cruz is, but he appears to be some upstart whom the thugs will most certainly smear, relentlessly to the point of Marginalization. This is what they do with any potential rival. And quite frankly, they seem to be undefeated thus far.

Calling people "bullies"...

I've had thug-supporting, eco-pagan socialists call me that before in arguments, political arguments. (I was insisting too much on facts, logic, etc.)

Remember how they, and I mean Big Media constantly referred to GWB?



Why isn't that a form a bigotry? Why is it okay to impugn frat boys?

All this, and I've said it before on this blog, I believe goes back to *school*. That's where the jock/nerd divide begins.

And guess what, I believe it's 100% artificial. I believe it's manufactured by the system - even if unintentional.

Yeah, and as if confiscating people's money, jamming through legislation, and buying off whole constituencies with said money isn't bullying...

Eating Organic Drama

Amazingly, the Boston/NY blizzard today is all the *nappers* are talking about down here in Naples, FL.

I mean they ostensibly come here to get away from all that nonsense....but, because all they do is sleep, fart, and watch color television, the little bit of snow up there is still dominating their tiny jurassic minds. One guy at the pizza place today gave an in-depth, up-to-the-minute, play-by-play of all the snow that has already fallen, what kind of snow it was, what regions would be hit the hardest,...he went on about travel bans, institutional closings,etc....ad nauseum.

I heard, through my covered ears(!), that there were gas lines up on Long Island again. Of course I predicted that after the hurricane.

All the Morons will run out to buy milk, bread, eggs, and now GASOLINE every time a little weather is on the horizon - FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DECADES.

I've long since stopped trying to get people to pull their kids out of school. Sure I have a website and I answer direct questions to the extent (tiny!) that I sense they are serious inquiries....but I've wasted too much breath trying to jam the mere possibility of *another way* into the hermetically sealed minds of regular folk.

My latest crusade has been against color television, video games, and staring at nonsense on cordless cell phones.

I've been on this one for a while now and the other day I realized that NOT A SINGLE PERSON I had preached to thought about what I said, no less changed any behavior, even a single iota.

My eyes are peeled, but I can't or at least haven't found ANYONE, ANYWHERE, who not only agrees that passive media consumption is nothing short of a death sentence, but takes the deliberate prophylactic steps needed to keep all this nonsense at bay.

"Oh, my kids ONLY watch one hour per day of television..."

"After school I allow video games so my kids can decompress..."

"What's wrong with watching the news? What's wrong with being kept informed???"

Oh boy, and today I heard someone extol the educational benefits of *Mine Craft* (or whatever the eff it is called). Apparently this *game*(?) is the UNDOING of many of my Asian math students. They tell their parents they are doing Khan Academy for hours on end - but THEY LIE.

Of course the *news* isn't real. It's someone else's, manufactured, processed, genetically-modified drama.

Alright, enough. These posts make me angry when I'm otherwise in a state of profound bliss.

This is all very, very PARTIALLY TRUE.

But in a country where people could think for themselves....this would never happen.

Blame schools. Blame parents who cede their responsibilities to government agents.

This story is running on Drudge and a couple people have already emailed it to me this morning...

Guess what, incidentally, yesterday around 10:45am I walked right through a sea of Stuyvesant students in front of their building....along with my kids and another family on our way to our *homeschool Field Day*.

But all I saw were a bunch of nerdy-looking juveniles burdened with heavy backpacks...

Well, the headline got it to the front page of Drudge....so I guess that's a *winning story*.

Though these kids really ought to *get in line* like the perfect future slaves they are on track to become...

Imagine getting kicked out of this school because you refuse to cover your shoulders, midriff, and tiny Asian boobies???

Say What?

So they *stabilized* the stock....even though it went down faster than a Jersey girl on prom night...

Oops, sorry.

And somehow they stabilized without buying the stock - BECAUSE that form of stabilization would surely have resulted in monetary losses, sizable ones at that.

I don't know. It's a stupid article that can't possibly be true in any way shape of form.

Just about everything, and I mean 99.7% of what Big Media spits out is pure BS if not outright falsehood. They just manipulate Morons with sensational headlines and by pushing emotional hot-buttons.

Unless the overall market rallies yet again....I could see this stock at $16, easily by Christmas.

On CNN.com they just ran some reality-inverting article that asserts buying a home today is cheaper than renting.

There were several INSANE assertions in the article (who wants to live in Detroit's cheap crack-houses?) but my favorite was:

Kolko pointed out that places like Honolulu, San Francisco and Boston have strong long-term growth prospects.

Hah! Strong long-term growth prospects in Boston?

And they say *blogs* don't produce quality content!

While I don't follow the din of contemporary politics even a little bit...

I'm 1,000% sure that Newt Gingrich has negligible genuine support among Republicans.

But Big Media (Big Government'ss apparatchik) most certainly wants this loser on the ballot next fall - just as they salivated at facing that Moronic 'old coot' John McCain the last time around.

The only people I've ever even heard talk about Newt Gingrich....are the most devout illiberals within my social circles.

One could easily make the case that the special interest socialists actually would rather Mitt Romney get the nomination...and I won't argue against that hypothesis.

From that it follows that Big Media is just disposed toward building up upstarts for the purpose of weakening the alleged frontrunner/entire field.

Whoever won that debate if anyone actually watched, or cares,....whoever is the frontrunner remains immaterial.

My point is that the news from the big pipe is nothing short of pure propaganda. It's designed to DEFORM rather than inform minds.

Shorting Another Paid Newspaper Website

Seriously....would you pay $3.99 weekly(!) for access - *premium* access - to the Boston Globe online?

I mean how many times do these newspapers have to fail with pay-walls before they get a clue?

The reality is that readers hate to even *log-in* when registration on these sites is free. So hardly anyone is going to PAY, yet again.

It seems like, given the ocean of free content online, that the only web content people will actually pay for is practical advice/instruction and of course, p0rn.

Note - the foundering Globe is still owned by the *geniuses* at the New York Times.

Hijacking Minds...

What a terrific headline by Drudge!

I found the 9/11 memorial hype this year to be absolutely nauseating.

Realize that in the ten years since 3,000 people died in the attacks...

...that over 400,000 people have died UNNECESSARILY on the roadways - a silent holocaust in and of itself.

To the fools that claim they are *accidents* I call bull$hit. There are people texting, tailgating, weaving, and driving 80 mph in the right hand land everywhere. And there are absolutely no efforts made to get shady uninsured drivers off the road, get illegal immigrants and blind 'old coots' off the road, or to investigate the extent of cordless cellphone usage in crashes. No, the people, the media, and the government just accept this as an immutable reality.

And they do so because it doesn't present a mass marketable, self-aggrandizing opportunity for themselves.

So when every blowhard on the radio and television wants me to reflect on what THEY deem important I punch the off-button with indignation. Realize again that they NEED everybody talking about, worrying about, angry/happy about the same things each day or they simply don't have a market for their *product*; they'll have no one to manipulate.

I suggest that whenever someone else tries to hijack and terrorize your mind that you take appropriate self-defensive measures.

Was 9/11 a big deal?

Yeah, of course it was. You don't have to tell me. I was on the phone with my (future first) wife when the first Tower fell and the line cut off. She was only 4/5 blocks away.

In fact at around 9pm last night when we got back from Maine there was still a massive vigil going on in our hometown of Manhasset, NY. Our *Wall Street* town lost 40 people or so on 9/11.

But still, why were we attacked in the first place?

It was because the powers-at-be let important $hit slide (lax illegal immigration enforcement, threatening rhetoric from overseas caves, etc.) in the first place while they focused on self-serving crap like global warming, gay marriage, and defeating their political opponents opponent.

Thou Shall Not Mention DEBT

This ad was *banned* from all the major color TV networks (last year?) and some of the minor ones like History Channel, etc.

Why the would TV networks do such a thing?

I mean it's not offensive to an ethic group (actually flattering the Chinese).

Oh yeah....it's offensive to the *ruling class*, the *powers-at-be*!

I've always said that it's telling when someone lies about something insignificant. They're most definitely NOT to be trusted.

By the same token on small beer like this, Big Government reveals itself a fascist and Big Media reveals itself as completely illiberal.

I mean the ocean of REAL CRAP and misinformation they broadcast night and day...

We can only hope that the *banning* notoriety ultimately achieves more than what the original intended viewing would have.

Intro To A Moron

Not having watched CNN in the past 20 years or so I had no idea who Nancy Grace was. Although I had seen her name a few times before (ratings on Drudge or something).

While she herself is a buffoon, she does reveal and highlight here the alarmist bent of Big Media.

Large news channels NEED large crises so that they can mass-market fear and hate, anger, misinformation, etc. Make no mistake a deadly tornado, a flu outbreak (or fear thereof), terrorist attacks, etc. are boons to entities - at least they think so.

Someone tell this Moron it's *sleight OF hand* - not *sleight OF THE hand*...

In the anti-spirit of Greg Mankiw....I'd like to *discuss* this:

While I think the subject is interesting in its own right, there was something nauseating about this particular buffoon, discussing the subject of closed-mindedness, amongst his boneheaded cronies at a TED convention.

It'd be like the Morons who've sequestered themselves away in say the Peoples Republic of Cambridge, Massachusetts wondering why their organic cocktail parties are dull - with everyone finishing each other's sentences in turn.

I mean the idea that in the pre-internet age newspaper editors were anchored by *gatekeeping integrity* is downright ludicrous. And anyone decrying an alleged dearth of web info TODAY ought to be branded a complete Moron.

While the speaker deprecates it, I do like and agree with this quote from the beginning:

Make no mistake, and don't ever forget that calls for *public mindedness* have never been anything but a Trojan Horse for those elitist, religious fanatics who are more accurately described as socialists.

How's this - if you're worried about suffering in Africa why don't YOU don't something about it - something that doesn't involve coercing others to help you?

And if YOU don't like the news feed from Yahoo or Headbook simply STOP using them. If YOU don't like the first couple Google search results....then YOU can scroll down or use another search engine.

Let's Guess The Price

I believe last year, before some union concessions, the best bid for the embattled Boston Globe was 0$ - i.e. just an assumption of debt and liabilities. (Recall Newsweek sold for only $1.)

Valuing the Globe is really beyond my skill-set as I simply don't know how ironclad the union contracts are. Though I'm quite sure the paper with the old salaried-journalist model is in fact worthless.

Someone in a comment thread made a remark about the political persuasion of the buying group and that leads me to believe that this prospective buyer is a consortium of new Boston Morons. So I will skew my bet accordingly high.

I say they'll bid $40 million - even though I think it's probably worth more like $15 million, at best.

One note about the salaried-journalist model...

I would write for the Globe from home, in my briefs, if they paid me, say $100 per article for 100 articles over the course of a year. They could offer that ten grand to scores of eager and talented bloggers and aspiring journalists and produce much better content at a fraction of their current costs. They'd save handsomely on healthcare, office rent, technology, etc. I'd gain stature, exposure, even more ego, and I'd drive traffic to my website.

Of course the current management would NEVER do something as *liberal* or as intelligent as this.

And I sincerely doubt the next one will either.

In fact I think they may go completely broke PAYING people what the market demands to read their tripe...

Shocker! - Media Inverting The Evidence-Hypothesis Sequence

A homeschooler in my new *group* just posted this to the forum:

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have been approached by a newspaper writer asking for information on homeschooling to be issued on MSNBC. She is obviously going through the yahoo groups looking for the moderators.

She is looking for homeschoolers who have basically given up on the educating of their children and have put them back in public school.

She wants to write the article stating "how hard it is for them to make the
transition back into the public schools" and "how it was hard for you and what
they went through to go back"

Although she says it will done in a fair way... I would be wary of being any
part of it. MSNBC has a very outward disdain of homeschooling and thinks it
should be outlawed.

You know, the thing is....these effete thugs are waaaaay too late on homeschooling. They needed to nip it in the bud back in the 80s.  (BTW, *religious* people paved the way legislatively for everyone else, pagans or whoever, to educate their own.)

Of course, they are thoroughly incompetent!

Homeschooling is NOT EASY. But what in life really worth doing IS?

And it's definitely not going to be easy for all lazy, closed-minded parents, themselves the products of Big Education, to tough it out.

Marginalizing The iPad

Not me, as I only have a few hunches what it's all about.

The gist is that the device is for Morons - for people who passively consume information. *Ease of use* isn't a breakthrough but rather a tactic to hook or *re-capture* those who can't think for themselves.

Just like the gadget press is full of devices that gadget bloggers need (and that no one else cares about), the mainstream press is full of stories that affirm the internal media consensus. Yesterday's empires do something sacred and vital and most of all grown up, and that other adults will eventually come along to move us all away from the kids' playground that is the wild web, with its amateur content and lack of proprietary channels where exclusive deals can be made. We'll move back into the walled gardens that best return shareholder value to the investors who haven't updated their portfolios since before eTrade came online.

The blog post was provocative enough to generate, as of now, 895 comments....so it might be worth a read.

Abusive Logic

The de-fanged muckrakers of Big Media, there're all out there these days decrying *pension abuse*.

They are finally drawing attention to the fact that corrupt politicians and their cronies have been looting the treasury for years.

But big deal. These complaints are too little and too late. AND the focus of their criticism is dangerously off-point.

Clowns at the Boston Globe and elsewhere, by only attacking the worst examples, they are tacitly conceding that the bulk of government pension obligations are in fact nothing to be concerned about. No, we only need curb the *abuses*.

But guess what, the abuses are not the fundamental problem, they are merely the sympton of a larger disease.

And by shedding light only on the big little crooks, it sets up any forthcoming reform to be hopelessly narrow. In other words it'll do nothing for the financial viability of states or municipalities. Politicians will pass some nothing bill and say, "Hey, we curbed the abuses....now leave us alone."

In short, *pension abuse* is not golden parachutes for big wigs, the ABUSE is on taxpayers for the entire system.

There's just no reason why all government employees shouldn't be on *defined contributions* like everyone else.

Another thing that annoys me about Big Media coverage of this subject is the expression *unfunded pension liabilities*. They can't just say these pensions are broke - they are merely unfunded. I guess then, by that logic, that my Moronic landlord isn't a deadbeat criminal....he just has $4 million in UNFUNDED mortgage obligations!

Boston Globe - Full Of Nothing!

Cake, chicken, soup, meatloaf, and hot chocolate have been decreed, by its readers, its most important content today!

I feel like we are just about due for another round of labor strife/budgetary cuts for the Globies...

The New York Times Co., parent of the Globe, recently reported *income*. Here I have the predictably interesting, AND cryptic, article where the company reports on itself!

But some of the relevant numbers were in fact in there:

The New England Media Group’s advertising revenue fell 20.3 percent in the quarter, to $62.6 million.

Price increases at the Globe last year boosted the New England group’s circulation revenue by 8.5 percent in the quarter, to nearly $44 million. The higher prices more than made up for a decline in the number of papers sold.

Now I don't know how they can cheer-lead about the tiny boost in circulation income.

Let's put some real numbers on that.

The circulation revenue went up by $3.26 million.

But advertising revenue fell by $15.65 million!

Ad spending is dropping anyway, but when you raise the newsstand price, you automatically shed readership (negative sloped demand curve); and fewer readers, automatically lowers the ad rates for those few remaining, Moronic sponsors.

*More than made up*....I think not!
