On Aces
So get this:
My godfather, a veritable Hacker who has only been playing golf for about 10 years since he retired....
He just hit his FOURTH HOLE-IN-ONE recently.
WTF, the guy shoots 95-100!!!
[I've, obviously, yet to make an ace in my 20 year golfing career - and I'm a single digit handicapper.]
I had a buddy in Philly who has 12 career aces; BUT, he's a club pro and pretty darn good.
I guess I shouldn't be too upset at my godfather's good fortune. According to this link, Fred Couples only has 3 aces - whilst some no-name dude has a whopping 51 holes-in-one.

I've got one. 175 yarder with a 5 iron.
I am surprised any pro would have only three.
Any witnesses?
Golf is a silly little game that I don't care enough about to ever play alone.
I prefer to play with myself.
Freddie Couples is the man...at least before his back went bad.
My only 'ace' came at a Par 3 course in Millbury, MA with CN at my side. The first words out of the mouth of our chaperone that day (we were under driving age) wasn't "congrats", it was "that doesn't count. It's a Par 54." Thanks so much....dervish.

I remember everyone was watching me intently play next - as if since the guy before me holed out, that I would do the same or something similarly spectacular. WTF, right?
I reckon I shanked my PW with the spotlight on me. And, although almost 20 years ago, I still remember the *Golden Bear* club I was using.
A buddy of mine holed a 6-iron from 175 yards while I was playing with him on South Philly's *Lakes* course.
And, I was playing Highland Creek in Charlotte, NC with some army dude who was pretty darn good. He was a 4 or so on that challenging course. On the first par 5, he flubbed his second shot, then holed his third with the same club from well over 200 yards.
That's about all I've seen up close.
Personally, I think I'm stuck on 8 eagles - none in the past nine years even though I'm much, much improved. I guess I don't play enough Mickey Mouse (par 54 and whatnot!) courses anymore.
Eagles, let's see. I remember 2 at Pebble, 1 at Poppy, 1 at Torrey, 1 at Indian Wells, 1 at PGA West Stadium, and 2 more at courses whose names escape me. There have to be more...
Bald eagles?
