The Colony

I caught the first two episodes of this Discovery show last night.

It's not bad - not bad at all. The Colony is a fusion of reality TV and apocalyptic fiction. It simulates the fallout from a global disaster (like *public schools*!) and its narrative is spiced up with marauding *others* a la Lost.

It appears to be the second season now. Some of the complaints about the first season were that it was *too contrived*. So I take it that those critics avoid the other gazillion contrived color TV programs like 24, Law & Order, Desperate Housewives, and the evening news!
