Bare Feet - Also Co-Opted by Eco-Pagans

An anonymous toe-incarcerator has just forwarded me the following clip:

This is a time of global warming. Through our feet I think we can begin to feel it...through our feet I think we can begin to be one people...

Feeling global climate change through our feet?

THAT is what I call super-sensory perception!

His feet may in fact be connected to his *brain*...

But his brain clearly isn't connected to reality!

We can't let a particular tribe's co-option of something turn us off it. To my detriment, for years I let those yoga airheads define the practice in my head and keep it from due consideration. I regret that and have learned my lesson.

I don't wear shoes much; but I am trying to wear them and my flip-flops less. With my bad back, and my irremediable creaky knees....what do I have to lose?

It's not like anyone will mistake ME for an Earth-worshipper - I maybe a *yoga-dad* now, but it's not like I'm Slow Rion with a composter in my backyard!

For background, see my prior post - Is Your Brood Shod? - and its out-of-control comment thread.

Dude,

But that's what happens to innocent little toes after serving 60-year sentences in shoe prison!

Actually, he made a lot of sense. People who spend most of their lives in shoes are like people who spend most of their lives wearing earplugs, or mittens. They simply cut themselves off from or minimize the effectiveness of one of their senses.

Except that the sense of touch in our feet is something that many adults are conditioned not to use. How so? Through the social expectation for shoes to be worn in places where they aren't really needed. How sad.

What's even sadder is that some people think they have every right to make other people who prefer to be barefoot wear shoes. The shoe crew can't seem to conceive that feet which regularly go bare have a much more "informed" interaction with the ground below, resulting in healthier, stronger feet.

The man in this video was simply envisioning a brighter reality where we listen to and appreicate the sensory feedback from our feet instead of sticking them inside shoes and socks out of ignorance or social expectations.

I'm open-minded on liberating toes....

But muddling that with global warming?

Speaking of IGNORANCE!

If you go all your life walking around with bare feet, they develop a callus. This will, in time, deprive them of any "sense of touch".

Hah!

And then one wouldn't be able to feel the Earth warming....

Best comment yet!

Going barefoot causes callus's which would prevent one from feeling????

"best comment yet"???

Morons of a feather flock together, or something like that.

Walking barefoot toughens the skin, and doesn't make callus's. Therefore, full time barefooters always have complete sense of touch on the bottom of their feet.

You've just been ambushed by Barefoot4life :D
