More Quotes

Y'all might have noticed....I added a new *gadget* to my blog.

In the course of my ongoing Bible study I have amassed numerous sagacious quotes - bits of wisdom even many of you heathens can profit from!

So check out my new random quote generator, in the margin on the right, atop the old one.

Is it, or is it not interesting to behold some of those search suggestions and compare contrast them with the group(s) most often vilified as *religious*?

Those results reflect nothing more than delusion and propaganda!

Jesus Christ was by no means a communist by today's definition. He believed in a purely voluntary sharing - which is in stark contradistinction to the coercion of today's *planners*.

I submit that, if anything, Jesus was actually a libertarian!

My quotes can be refreshed anytime by refreshing the page (hitting F5).

And the picture above is Poussin's rendering of The Judgement of Solomon. Cut that kid in half!

That the northeast doesn't have the best schools, that we know. Still, I would think that they would have required a science class or two. Perhaps some history? Something that covered reading comprehension?

The bible - and along the same lines, the book of mormon as well - is nothing but a bunch of hillbilly bullshit. How is this not obvious to you? You really think that humans go to some magic kingdom to live forever? Given eternal life, do you think that humans could stand to live forever?

Given your embrace of biblical nonsense, how is it that you can claim superior thinking skills as opposed to somebody like Barry Ritholtz? Answer: by applying the same "thinking" that allows you to believe in magic.

Anon,

Take one of the Biblical quotes I've posted up there, any one....and discuss its *nonsensical* elements.

I would love to do that. But, even better would be you discussing the rationality of Noah’s ark, parting of the sea, the burning bush, rising from the dead, God’s genocidal wrath, 6,000 year old earth and space, women made from man’s rib, speaking serpents, unicorns, satyrs, cockatrices, giants, etc. etc. etc. etc….

But I suppose all of the biblical mind numbingly irrational nonsense is mere “metaphor”, eh?

That’s ok then. Almost as fun would be “Funny Biblical Quotes”. You could even specify from the Old Testament or New if you have a preference. Either book provides a bottomless well of laughs.

FCB,

You are rejecting a *whole* for a *part* - actually for just your interpretation of the *part*.

For every one person you show me whose life has been ruined by a literal belief in the story of Noah....I'll show you a million sorry souls whose lives have been ruined by selfishness.

But forget that, just show me how a single one of the quotes I put up is unwise.

Those silly quotes are wise in the exact same manner as chinese fortune cookie quotes.

I do agree that religion is a perfect crutch for saving sorry souls who struggle with life. It's just incompatible with anyone laying claim to rational, objective, independent thought.

There are two ways to live your life: the first is as if nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. (Albert Einstein)
